5 reasons to install solar at your home or rental property

Tesla battery storage

Solar has quickly become a popular form of renewable energy for Aussie home and business owners. While it isn’t suitable for everyone (e.g. your premises doesn’t receive enough direct sunlight), there are lots of reasons why solar could be a really great choice for you.

1. Reduces your power bills

Who doesn’t love to see their power bills on the decline! By creating your own source of power and relying less on the grid, you will start to see your power bills getting smaller and smaller. Plus your electricity retailer may pay you for any excess power generated that is sent back to the grid (e.g. 5c per kW).

2 . Future proofing for a sustainable future

Renewable energy is definitely on the rise, especially as we move further away from non-renewables such as coal. Solar is a great way to future proof your home with a safe and cost effective source of renewable energy.

3. Low maintenance

Once your system is installed, you don’t need to do a lot to keep it running smoothly! We recommend cleaning your panels every 6-12 months to ensure they aren’t covered by dirt, leaves, or any other debris that may fall on them throughout the year. You can also get a yearly check up with a solar expert to ensure everything is running as it should.

4. Government incentives and rebates

The NSW Government provides incentives and rebates for home and business owners looking to install solar on their property. This changes every financial year, so it’s best to check out the NSW Government website for more information.

5. Increase in property value

While solar isn’t necessarily on everyone’s list when buying a house, it is definitely a value add! It’s also one less thing for the new homeowner to worry about after they move in.

BONUS ** Backup power supply

If you choose to add battery storage to your solar install, there are options available to run an emergency power supply to different loads in your house in case of a blackout or grid failure.
